Nick Clewley is an after-hours writer and graduate of The Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University. He grew up in Victoria, BC, on Lekwungen territory, where he still lives.
His path to writing was long and winding. His first story, when he was five years old, was about a magic hamster, but he took twenty years off after writing it. During that time he discovered a love of speculative fiction.
His writing bends and blends genres, plays with time and tries to question what we think we know.
He believes land can be returned to Indigenous people, there are alternatives to prison, and a more democratic economy is possible. He recognizes he’s sometimes a contradiction, but is trying to learn, and is working on writing that reflects these beliefs.
